Short Bio: The Arctic Monkeys debut album was 'Whatever
People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not'. It has since been recorded
as the UK's quickest selling debut album. The initial popularity
of the band was aided by the Internet, with fans finding their work
through the creation of a MySpace page. It is sometimes assumed
the band created their online presence, but in fact they knew nothing
of it, instead it was created by their fans. What is certain, it
was one of the first times a band came to publicity primarily through
the Internet. The band first began performing their work in 2003,
their debut appearance was in Sheffield, at 'The Grapes'. By far
the band's biggest market is the UK, with over half their debut
albums sales being in the UK. The band has released two follow up
albums, 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' and 'Humbug', in 2007 and 2009.
And as we speak (2010), they are recording a fourth. Both their
follow-up albums achieved critical and commercial success. Although
not quite to the level of their debut album in the UK.
Songs: I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor, When the Sun
Goes Down, Brianstorm.
