Short Bio: The band formed whilst three members were studying at Goldsmiths College in London. Damon and Graham were friends from their childhood, and both compromised the main creative force behind the band. Blur were at the heart of the Britpop scene of the mid 1990's. They, of course, are well known for their chart rivalry with Oasis. A fact that sometimes over shadows the legacy of their work. Blur's first two albums were of a moderate success, Leisure and Modern Life Is Rubbish, released in 1991 and 1993 respectively. Their real break through album was Parklife in 1994. Still viewed as their magnus opus, as far as albums are concerned. The Great Escape in 1995, followed up on the success of Parklife, and was firmly in their Britpop style. Shortly after 1995, as Britpop's shine started to wane, Graham Coxon persuaded the band to reinvent their sound. It went from Britpop into a harder Indie rock, a style played by American Indie rock bands such as the Smashing Pumpkins. The album 'Blur' was launched in 1997, possibly an attempt by the band to break into America. It did provide the band it's first notable success in America, with the single 'Song 2'. Blur's last two albums, 13 and Think Tank, experimented further, with electronic, gospel and hip-hop influences. The band broke up in 2003, but reformed in 2009 to play some concerts and festivals, such as Glastonbury.
