Short Bio: The Carpenters were a smash in the 1970's, and
the antithesis of the hard rock bands that dominated the decade.
The Carpenters enjoyed a wholesome image, but it soon became apparent
that behind the scenes all was not well. Karen Carpenter developed
an eating disorder, which proved fatal, contributing to heart failure
at the age of 32. Karen and Richard provided vocals, drumming and
percussion work. Karen Carpenter began as a drummer, and classified
herself as a drummer that sang. The Carpenters released eleven studio
albums, which included Offering, Close to You, Now & Then and
A Kind of Hush.
