Short Bio: The Doors created some of the most iconic music
of the psychedelic period of the last 60's. The band's lead singer
was originally Jim Morrison. A wild man of rock, his exploits are
legendary, and his place in rock folklore is assured. Morrison died
in Paris in 1971. It left a whole in the band which was never filled,
such was the on-stage charisma of the man. The band formally broke
apart in 1973. Since then the band has reformed to perform now and
again, with a variety of different artists. Robby Krieger and Ray
Manzarek have remained a mainstay of each reunion and were founders
members of the band. The Doors music remains unique, a snapshot
of the drug fueled scene of California in the late sixties. Their
music was also a part of the soundtrack to the classic movie, Apocalypse
Now. And is now, perhaps, the music which is most ceremonious with
the Vietnam War.
Popular Songs: Break on Through (To the Other Side), End,
Light My Fire, Soul Kitchen.
