Short Bio: Unlike the first solo white rapper to come to prominence, Vanilla Ice, Eminem was a hit critically as well as commercially. Most importantly, he is widely respected as a rapper within the African American community, which lends credibility to his talents in other cultures. It is interesting to note that Dr Dre thought Eminem was black when he first heard him rapping on tape. Not long after, Dr Dre agreed to collaborate on upcoming material with Eminem, such as his debut album 'The Slim Shady LP'. It is fair to say that Eminem became a cultural icon amongst a percentile of young males, many of them white. Before then, rap had only been a marginal genre in Europe and white America. Eminem certainly helped promote the genre, helping to make it a mainstream style, and in the US, close to the dominant genre of music. Eminem's debut movie was '8 mile', a semi biographical work about a white trash rapper from the slums of Detroit. It featured possible Eminem's best single, Lose Yourself. As movie's starring music artists go, it was a resounding commercial and critical success.

Songs: Guilty Conscience, The Way I Am, Stan, The Real Slim Shady, Without Me.
