- 12/09/07 - Their real world stores will over-go a major overall,
long gone will be the rows and rows of cd and dvd racks. Due to
online price competition, and sluggish cd sales due to downloads
this is no longer a economic venture. The new stores will feature
rows of computers, download services, orange juice, smoothies
and a relaxed atmosphere to hang out. People will need a memory
stick to transfer downloads they buy.
- 06/09/07 - During the summer trading has been up 9.6p per cent
for HMV stores, this is extremely good news for a retailer which
has been hit hard by the mp3 music download revolution. Alongside
cd, dvds, they also stocked non-music related books like the new
Harry Potter novel 'and the Deathly Hallows'. HMV's entry into
the dvd rental scene has also helps increase revenue, and has
seen the sad demise of some of the first dvd rental chains like
Choices UK. HMV are still however blaming film piracy and stronger
online competition as the main causes of their profits demise
of former times.

I also found HMV expensive on the high street, certainly more expensive
than my local Asda or Tesco price for price for most cd's. My local
store is the largest store in the city centre, it's my first stop,
then I'll go onto either Virgin or MVC if I cannot find what I am
looking for. I recently got into ordering online, I'd always been
a little suspect before, worried how secure transmitting my credit
card details over the Internet was. HMV are certainly lower online,
with more offers, the prices are almost always the same as the competition.
It's very easy to order, find what your looking for, and everything
I have ordered has always arrived within the working week.

They have improved over the past year George, but they are certainly
not as cheap as the competition. Try cd-wow for example, there is
a good reason why this store has profits dipping. My sister ordered
from the, tried emailing, phoning etc... poor communication and
her items were not delivered on time promised.

Received my Spooks series 4 DVD box set in a broken case. I think
it was clearly not damaged during delivery, because everything was
in tip top condition. To add insult to injury one the disc itself
was faulty as well, not sure if HMV can be to blame. Here is when
ordering from the Internet turns into a nightmare, the returns procedure
is a real pain in the ass, took over 2 weeks before the replacement
item was sent out.
