Short Bio: Led Zeppelin are often acclaimed as the greatest
rock and roll band in history. Not only that, but as the band which
developed rock into hard rock, and hard rock into heavy metal. The
band were at their peak in the 70's. During that decade no other
band could rival them for influence, sales, or critical acclaim.
Many rate their achievements in that decade as highly as those of
the Beatles in the sixties. Total record sales would back that theory
up. They are within the top ten artists ever recorded, with huge
album sales in the U.S., most of them reaching No.1 in the Billboard
charts. John Bonham died in 1980, and was the reason the band broke
up in that year. He is rated as the greatest ever rock and roll
drummer.
Popular Songs: Black Dog, Stairway to Heaven, Achilles Last
Stand.
