- 08/12/07 - Littlewoods Direct wins award as best retailer online
in north west
- The company was founded in Liverpool during the 1930's,
and recently a poll by CBI has rated the online retailer the
best from the region of the north west in England. Beginning
as a home catalogue service they have expanded to their online
operation. They now stock all types of high tech equipment
like personal mp3 players. All the latest players from Apple
and Creative which support mpeg 4. The touch and vision "
are the latest players released in late 2007's. Both are compatible
with mpeg 4, the touch uses a touch sensitive control panel
to navigate around the menu system. The vision w also supports
MPEG 1/2/4, DivX, XviD, AVi and WMV video formats. Unlike
the offerings from Apple, Creative include a FM radio, microphone
and speaker with their players which offers increased features
over the style of ipods.
- 12/09/07 - Littlewoods to run the adidas store
- It has been announced that Littlewoods will run the official
adidas site. They will only cover the UK side of things. But
due to the extensive knowledge of the Littlewoods group when
it comes to the online side of business Adidas decided not
to play catch up, and farmed out responsibility for a percentage
of their sales of course. If you visit the site at http://www.shopadidas.com/
you will notice a definite design similarity to all the Littlewoods
sites. With image rich homepages highlighting all the latest
news, deals and offers.

Having never stepped foot into my local Littlewoods store I did
not enter with any preconceived ideas of the company. In my local
town cente they are placed next door to marks and sparks so I pretty
know ignore Littlewoods to the extent that I am surprised there
is even a store in the town centre. I landed on the site when directed
by a comparison search from kelkoo. I was after the new iPod Nano
as a Christmas gift, the price had been slashed by £15 to
£115 from £129. Just about every retailer excluding
two others were selling this mp3 player at the rrp of £129.
This included all the major electrical chain stores. I paid by my
debit card, but there was also a 20, 52 and 104 week payment plans.
These would cost in the region of five, two and one pound per week.
I've yet to see any other online e-tailer provide such a clear and
concise financial payment package on a product page.
