Short Bio: The Bee Gees have proved a resounding success
during their forty years of song writing and performance. The peak
of their popularity was during the sixties and seventies, and especially
during the disco period of the late seventies. They created an instant
classic soundtrack to the disco movie, 'Saturday Night Fever'. It
ensured the Bee Gees worldwide popularity, and when people thought
of disco music, they automatically thought of the Bee Gees. 'Saturday
Night Fever' is the highest selling movie soundtrack of all time.
It is also in the top ten best selling albums of all time. As the
disco sound died during the early eighties, a backlash against the
scene hit the Bee Gees popularity, and they resorted to writing
hit records for other artists. With total record sales of over two
hundred million, the Bee Gees are one the best selling artists in
history. But the respect given them from some quarters of the press
and music industry has been oddly lacking, and in some instances
a total lack of respect for their outstanding achievements.
Popular Songs: Stayin' Alive, How Deep Is Your Love, Night
Fever, More Than a Woman.
